This article below highlights some situations where Google Adsense code if placed on your website can actually make more money for you as oppose to a mere affiliate program link.
1. Not all keyword niches have affiliate programs
This means that if you do a quick keyword analysis you may find an area that you think is very lucrative but the problem is that it may not have any affiliate programs for you to monetize your website traffic. The next best thing would be to check whether there are any advertisers with Google on that particular keyword that you have. Google Adsense with its millions of advertisers will likely have advertisers who are interested in your current market.
2. Adsense uses contextual advertising
Every Niche website even no matter how specialized will face a problem. This problem is that your affiliate product may not be spot onto the content for that page. This gets problematic when you add articles related to the topic to your website. Such topics may be slightly related to your niche affiliate product and your sales may quite dismal.
Google Adsense is different, the Advertising that it puts up on every page will depend on the content of that page. This is important both to the purchaser of the advertising and the seller. If a person goes to a webpage looking for Running shoes and then reads an article on sports socks your ad code for that page will be on sport socks. The reader then clicks the link and you as the publisher make money from the Adsense code and the advertiser also gets more targeted website traffic.
3. No Dead Affiliate links
Affiliate marketing managers affiliate programs acquire newer and better affiliate tracking programs and then sometimes they change referral links. The problem with this is that sometimes stems not so much a lack of knowledge but difficulty in changing links on large websites. Google Adsense changes with respect to your webpages content and being totally externally driven will have no faulty links so you get paid from each and every clickthough.
In conclusion, Google Adsense makes many business owners a lot of money each month so if you are merely relying on affiliate programs to monetize your website traffic you might want to consider spending some time learning all you can about the Google Adsense program.
Joel Teo is the owner of the Money Making Directory which boasts of money making tips, recommendations and resources to help ordinary people make money online.
Signup for his free newsletter today at http://www.MakeThousandsToday.info and receive his complimentary “7 Insider Secrets to making money online” Course.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/

Top 50 Highest Clickthrough Keywords
Below are the top 50 keywords with the highest clickthrough rate from our database.
Keyword Clicks / Day Average /CPC
hotels 560000 $2.62
flights 560000 $2.01
new cars 440000 $2.35
cars 360000 $2.92
www 210000 $0.42
film 150000 $2.32
buy 47000 $2.11
how to 44000 $0.72
furniture 42000 $1.59
schools 41000 $4.13
video 41000 $1.21
free 41000 $0.96
with 41000 $0.51
florida 38000 $2.68
california 37000 $2.93
summer 37000 $2.11
movie 37000 $0.53
new york hotels 36000 $2.92
clothing 36000 $1.16
sale 34000 $2.24
camera 34000 $1.50
writing 34000 $0.89
pictures 33000 $0.32
insurance 32000 $5.02
sex 32000 $0.38
tickets 30000 $3.30
human resources 30000 $0.66
school 30000 $0.62
hotel 29000 $1.88
city 29000 $1.49
london 29000 $1.39
digital camera 29000 $1.37
home 28000 $2.30
car 27000 $4.20
download 26000 $0.36
software 25000 $3.02
texas 23000 $2.01
beach 23000 $1.51
job sales 23000 $0.71
phone 20000 $2.72
airport 20000 $1.36
music 20000 $0.84
resources 20000 $0.52
australia 20000 $0.51
map 20000 $0.37
garden 19000 $1.25
research 19000 $1.04
where can i buy 19000 $0.53
online 18000 $2.13
editing 18000 $1.87

The following list includes the 25 keywords that increased in price the most, on a
percentage basis, from July 2005 to October 2005.
cleveland auto accident lawyer
donate time share
cleveland auto accident
attorney
the ny times
military service
spring break deal
driving mexico
dna
state farm
oxycontin abuse
napa auto
graphic design chicago
fixed rate
florida lawyer
football handicappin
pancreatic cancer
humana insurance
aig auto insurance
prime lending
springfield missouri real estate
ephedra
web conference
sleep medication
flash animation training
pvr
................................/////?????
READ MORE :

THE EZBUZZ BLOG

* A new year for Google Video

* Stay on target Adsense

* The 2006 Anita Borg Scholarships

* Alibaba.com ! Because of this, weak affiliate merchants have the tendency to
die faster than ever and ad networks will be losing their customers quickly.

If you are in a losing rather than winning in the affiliate program you are
currently promoting, maybe it is about time to consider going into the AdSense
marketing and start earning some real cash.

Google is readily providing well written and highly relevant ads that are
closely chosen to match the content on your pages. You do not have to look for
them yourselves as the search engine will be the doing the searching for you
from other people’s source.

You also don't have to spend time in choosing different kind of ads for
different pages. Google makes it very easy for you, with no codes to mess around
for different affiliate programs.

You will be able to concentrate on providing good and quality content, as the
search engines will be the ones finding the best ads in which to put your pages
on.

You are still allowed to add AdSense ads even if you already have affiliate
links on your site. It is prohibited, however, to imitate the look and feel of
the Google ads for your affiliate links. One of the things you can do, however,
is to utilize Google's custom palette to customize your Google ads, making them
to appear a part of the web page itself. The idea here is to match background
and links to match the theme of your site. People on the Internet today are
trained to click on a link that is blue, and if your Google ads have the same
theme as your web page, it makes the Google ads appear to be a portion of your
"content."

You can also filter up to 200 URLs. This gives you a chance to block ads for
the sites that do not meet your guidelines, and also block competitors. Remember
that it is unavoidable that AdSense may be competing for some space on web sites
that all other revenues are sharing.

Owners of small sites are allowed to plug a bit of a code into their sites
and instantly have relevant text ads that appeal to your visitors appear
instantly on your pages. If you own many sites, you only need to apply once.
Then ,you are issued a unique "publisher ID", which can be used on any
site you currently own. A small snippet of Javascript is placed on your site in
the location you wish the ads to appear in, and generally speaking, the ads from
Goggle will appear in minutes. This ends the hassle of having to apply to many
affiliate programs, and keeping track of many different URLs and user IDs and
passwords.

As Google ads are very easy to customize, and can be placed anywhere on your
site you wish, you can experiment with placement, colors, and themes. Many
tricks are available to the resourceful webmaster, including adding images in
conjunction with your Google ads to make them more noticeable.

The payment rates can vary extremely. The payment you will be receiving per
click depends on how much advertisers are paying per click to advertise with the
use of the AdWords. Advertisers can pay as little as 5 cents and as high as
$10-12, sometimes even more than that too. Some savvy lawyers are currently
paying as high as $75 for advertising the keyword mesothelioma! And you, as the
ad publisher, are earning a share of that money generated.

If your results remain stagnant, it can help if you try and build simple and
uncluttered pages so that the ads can catch the visitor’s eyes more. It
sometimes pay to differ from the usual things that people are doing already.
Google has many tutorials, including a "heat chart" which shows you
where the best placement for ads are. You will need an account to access these
tutorials. Sign up for an AdSense account at https://www.google.com/adsense/?sourceid=aso&subid=ww-et-awhome&hl=en_US.
It is also a refreshing sight for your visitor once they see something different
for a change.

It is still wise to look at other people’s information and format your
AdSense in a like manner. A wise old business axiom is to "find a good
business model, then copy it." Let others do the hard work for you, and
learn from a successful site. Just think about it as doing yourself a favor by
not having to work too hard to know what content to have. Look to sites that
have high page rank, and carefully observe their layouts, their content, and
placement of their ads. A little time spent doing research can put dollars in
your pocket down the road.

Publishers have the option of choosing to have their ads displayed only on a
certain site or sites. You can also have them displayed on a large network of
sites if you so desire. Google now has the option to allow other people to
advertise on your site. This only makes good sense. If you are marketing to a
tightly defined niche, you can place your own ads, written by you, on site that
allow this option. The choice is yours, depending on what you think will work
best to your advantage.

It is important to note that you cannot choose certain topics only. If you do
this, search engines will not place AdSense ads on your site and you will be
missing out a great opportunity in making hundreds and even thousands of dollars
cash.

Topics to be avoided includes gambling, firearms, ammunition, tobacco or
drugs. If you are being offered more cash in exchange of doing AdSense with
these kinds, it is just like signing your own termination paper.

With all the information that people need in your hands already, all you have
to do is turn Google AdSense into your own cash cow. It all boils down to a
win-win situation both for the content site owners and the webmasters or
publishers.

Our website, http://www.for-the-record.biz, is a good source of information
for the beginning marketer. Quality Traffic And More Clicks At Your Google Adsense Site
There will be times when a very high percentage of the traffic received at the Google affiliate site will end up clicking on the Adsense ads displayed. There will be other times when hardly a soul will click on any of the ads.
Closer examination will usually reveal a fascinating and yet obvious fact. And that is the more tightly targeted the traffic, the more clicks you will tend to receive.
This simply means that it is very possible to receive a fraction of the traffic that another site receives, but simply because of how tightly targeted your traffic is, you could easily end up receiving many more clicks and much higher Adsense earnings. There are even cases where the other site may have three or four times the kind of traffic that your site has and yet you will enjoy more clicks and much higher Adsense earnings.
This clearly illustrates the fact that many webmasters and blog owners quite often end up receiving a large percentage of curious rather than interested visitors. In a way this cannot be avoided because most search terms will hardly produce results that are anywhere near 100 per cent accurate. In fact search results and the improvement of search results is at the center of the current fierce and ongoing battle between leading search engines.
While curiosity is a powerful marketing tool that can be used to get visitors to click more at your Google affiliate Adsense ads ads (see other article by this author- direct to webcontent blog) this strategy will hardly work when a vast majority of the visitors you attract to your site are not really interested in the subject at hand. Yet many webmasters keen on receiving high traffic for the sake of high traffic have often used tactics that tend to trick people to make their way to their sites. This strategy hardly makes sense and the Google affiliate Adsense program illustrates this fact rather brutally.
So how does a Google affiliate site attract highly targeted traffic? It is important that before even embarking on the mission of attracting targeted traffic, that you ensure that your site or blog is tightly targeted at a certain audience and that your content clearly reflects this. This is the only way that you will be able to attract the sort of Adsense ads that will be of interest to your visitors. A common mistake with many is to have a site that is just too general which also attracts Adsense ads that are too general.
One of the most effective ways of ensuring or guaranteeing targeted traffic to your site or blog is to give your visitors a sneak preview of your contents. Let them read sample articles of what they will find at your site. The way to do this is to distribute your articles to high traffic article directories and sites. These sites will publish your articles free and will also include your resource box at the bottom which will give details about you complete with the url to your site or blog.
Some folks will read your article and not visit your site. Which is okay because what should really matter to you is receiving targeted traffic. Actually only a small fraction of the people who read your article will end up at your site, but the good news is that the people who do end up at your site will be very interested in what you have to offer and will tend to spend a long time at your site. This is the sort of traffic that any webmaster or blog owner would easily kill for.
Of course there are other factors that are important for you to achieve success here. For example your content will have to be very well written. This need not be expensive if you are hiring an online writer as we have various low cost options that will give you quality content.
Whatever you need to do will be well worth the effort because using this method, the visitors whom you end up with at your site will tend to continually and perpetually click at your Adsense ads. Cuasing your Adsense earnings to rise steeply. Which is exactly what you want to happen. But then there is plenty more you can do to increase your volume of visitors and ultimately the clicks at your sites and your Adsense revenue.
Christopher Kyalo is a successful online writer and entrepreneur read the rest of this article at his amazing, free Adsense money-making ezine by sending a blank email NOW to clickaffiliatesecrets-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or visit his blog at Adsense Money Making tips. Programs
By Joel Teo
Many affiliate marketers today have realized quickly that in some circumstances, google adsense may make you more money than your affiliate programs.
Joel Teo is the owner of the Money Making Directory which boasts of money making tips, recommendations and resources to help ordinary affiliate site will end up clicking on the Adsense ads displayed.
Here, I have compiled detailed explanations to some common AdSense terms, facts, and performance tips.

Terminology

Real Stats (Figures based on actual performance tracking updated several times a day)

* Page Impressions: The number of times an ad unit (a collection of 1 to 4 ads). If you have two ad units on a page, then every time the page loads you get two page impressions. Page Impressions DO include PSA (Public Service Ads) and Alternate Ads.

* Clicks: The number of times someone clicks on an ad. Clicks on PSA will be included in this stat as well.

* Earnings: Money you've made.

Derived Stats (Figures calculated from the real stats)

* Clickthrough Rate: Clicks/Page Impressions. It is expressed as a percentage.

* Effective CPM:. Earnings per thousand page impressions. Calculated by 1000 X Earnings / Page Impressions

* EPC: Your EPC is not displayed because it does not really matter. EPC stands for Earnings Per Click (Earnings/Clicks) and is frequently talked about.

Facts (What we've discovered)

1. Stats Update Frequency/Delay: Although AdSense stats usually updates every couple hours, you don?t need to panic at all if you see no change in your stats for over 12 hours. Even if other webmasters are seeing normal updates.

2. Don?t worry about anomalies in your stats during the course of the day. These are not accurate. There could be delays in the update due to one reason or another. Only when you see figures for a new day can you know that the figures for the previous day are not going to change any more.

3. Sometimes the stats are carried forward several days. This happens when Google decides to freeze your clicks and earnings for fraud checking/tracking purposes or server delays. Thus, you may notice your earnings/clicks shoot straight up when you least expect it. It is possible for your CTR to go up by as much as 10%.

4. The update on the different stats are not synchronized. For example, when you check your account, the page impressions may be freshly updated, while the clicks and earnings are from two hours ago. Thus, there may be a sharp drop/increase in the derived stats. Due to this, you don?t need to fret over all these little bumps.

5. Often delays in updates foreshadow changes to the AdSense program. For example, slow updates preceded introduction of channels, TOS changes, and addition of new languages.

6. Channels are a great way for you to track the performance of your ad on a particular page/site. If you want to use the same code for all of your pages, you can also use the recently added URL channels. Of course, channel data are delayed by two days.

Performance Tips

1. EPC doesn't matter! That is because you have absolutely no control over your EPC. Your EPC is influenced by many variables including your webpage content, advertiser?s budget, seasonal fluctuations and more. Thus, the productive thing to do is concentrate on the factors that you have control over such as CTR and page impressions.

2. How well am I doing?
Many of us probably wonder how we are doing compared to other AdSense users, including myself. However, we really can?t get a good sense of the average if Google doesn't disclose their figures, which they don?t. Since people doing well with AdSense generally don?t like to reveal their earnings due to the fear that they may be terminated by the program, any discussion about an average EPC/CTR/CPM is a waste of time.

3. From various experiments by myself and other webmasters, we can conclude (at least for now) that using image/text ads instead of just text ads will dramatically decrease you CTR because of various reasons. (i.e. fewer advertisers, banner blindness etc.) However, the EPC is usually slightly higher.

4. Blend in or stand out? This is completely site dependent. Sometimes, people will never click on your ads unless you ?trick? them into doing so, although this is not so good for long term. Other sites will require your ad to scream in your visitor?s face to get good clicks. Do some extensive testing to find out what?s good for your site.

5. Make good use of the URL filter feature. Blocking repetitive (eBay ads) or boring ads (free smilies) will definitely increase your CTR.

6. Large rectangles placed above the fold will often generate most revenue. However, this may not be a good long term solution since such and ad is usually obtrusive and have little aesthetic value.

7. If you run a forum site, you may notice that your earnings are very low. Here is a solution: use a simple cookie-based php script that only displays AdSense ads once every 10 page views -- essentially a counter counts down from 10 to 0 and on 0 displays an AdSense block. Between the AdSense ads, display regular banner ads. Although your AdSense page impressions may be down, you will notice your CTR skyrocketing, and a large increase in overall earnings.

In conclusion: Play around with your ad to maximize your performance, and look at the big picture in your stats!

Tony Zhu is the owner of an online business resource website, InaWhim.com, the largest free resource for the new and experienced home business owner. The time: early morning. I got out of bed and fired up my PC. Opened my browser to check my site. Had a look at the third-party Google toolbar plugin (toolbar.google.com/) on said browser (FireFox). It showed grey.

Ice formed in my stomach. I opened my bugged version of Internet Explorer: my PageRank was 0. By now I was frantic. I went to www.google.com and typed in ?site:www.tigertom.com?: no pages listed. I did this for two other satellite sites of mine: ditto.

What had happened?

TigerTom.Com (www.tigertom.com) had been banned by Google. I went to the WebmasterWorld forum (www.webmasterworld.com), and found out the awful truth. Google was doing one of its periodic updates of its algorithm, and had filtered out my sites completely.

Further research there, and a bit of soul-searching, revealed why. I had too many pseudo-directory pages with auto-generated external links. Snippets from search engine results were used as descriptions of said links. Said links were run though a redirect script. These are hallmarks of pseudo-directories and ?AdSense scraper?* sites. Google is reportedly trying to filter these from its ?SERPs?**. I say reportedly, because Google doesn?t announce these purges. They are inferred.

To compound my sins, these pages were also effectively doorway pages?.

The theory was that legitimate sites had been hit as ?collateral damage?. I say theory, in that Google rarely comments on individual cases. It won?t tell you exactly why your site was banned. I guess this is for reasons of time, and to give no clues to spammers.

In my case the ban was justified for my two satellite sites; while not looking like spam, they were effectively doorway sites.

My main site was different. It had offending pages, but was mostly a diverse labour of seven years; a personal site on steroids.

Google bans sites algorithmically: a site that fits their ?spammer? profile gets dropped via software from their index automatically. Real spammers shrug their shoulders and move on; honest webmasters write emails begging for mercy.

Like me.

I did some searching via Google, to find out how to do a re-inclusion request. Here?s how:

1. First, you check your site is truly gone, by going to www.google.com, typing ?site:www.yourdomain.com? without the apostrophes. If it returns no pages at all ?

2. You check Google?s webmaster guidelines at www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html. These are not really guidelines; you should treat them as iron-clad rules.

3. You stop the offending content from being web-accessible, permanently.

If you?re familiar with Apache web-server mod_rewrite you can:

- Send a 410 ?Gone? response to requests for the offending pages, or
- CHMOD them to 600, which will return a 403 ?Forbidden? response, or
- Move them to a different directory if you need to keep them, or
- Just delete them.

Don?t try to be clever. Just get rid of them.

4. You go to www.google.com/support/bin/request.py, tick the relevant boxes, and type ?Re-inclusion request? in the subject box of the form.

4a. You add the complete URL of your site i.e. www.naughtydomain.com,

4b. You state that you have read the webmaster guidelines above,

4c. You admit what you did wrong; simply, succinctly, with no carping or special pleading.

Don?t try to be clever. Don?t argue. Don?t lie. Don?t waffle.

Google has cached copies of your site. When an engineer checks your site, he?ll look for the offending content, and compare it against their cache. He?ll spend about two minutes on it; don?t give him a reason to continue to exclude you.

5. You ask for re-inclusion.

6. You wait.

In my case, it took about a week; a long, unpleasant, fretful week. I sent follow up emails saying what I was doing, and a fax, and I was going to write letters if that didn?t work. That was probably excessive. Once you have a ticket number, that?s all that should be necessary.

They emailed a standard reply saying ?the problem had been passed to their engineers?. That?s good. I understand they send no reply to spammers.

A week later my site was back in. Lesson learnt. To make sure I?m not so vulnerable again, I?m splitting my content to different sites, on the principle of ?best not to have all your eggs in one basket?.

Have I learnt anything from this? Yes. Have more than one site as your ?money-maker?. Spend less time on search engine optimisation and more on traditional marketing. Come up with a unique selling proposition that compels people to link to your site. Easy(!)

About the Author
T. O? Google's AJAX front-end styles back-end data published in the Atom syndication format. The data technologies powering Google Reader can easily be used and extended by third-party feed aggregators for use in their own applications. I will walk you through the (previously) undocumented Google Reader API.

Update 10:40 p.m.:Jason Shellen, PM of Google Reader, called me to let me know that Google built its feed API first and the Google Reader application second as a demonstration of what could be done with the underlying data. Jason confirmed my documentation below is very accurate and Google plans to release a feed API "soon" and perhaps within the next month! Google Reader engineer Chris Wetherell has also confirmed the API in the comments below.

A reliable feed parser managed by a third party lowers the barrier to entry of new aggregator developers. Google and its team of engineers and server clusters can handle the hard work of understanding feeds in various formats and states of validation, allowing developers to focus on the interaction experience and other differentiating features. You can also retrieve and synchronize feed subscription lists with an established user base that could be in the millions, providing a better experience for users on multiple devices and platforms. Google Reader's "lens" provides only one view of the available data.

Google Reader users are assigned a 20-digit user ID used throughout Google's feed system. No cookies or session IDs are required to access this member-specific data.

Feed retrieval
/reader/atom/feed/

Google converts all feed data to Atom regardless of its original publication format. All RSS feed post content appears in the summary element and unlike the My Yahoo! backend I found no additional metadata about the feed containing full posts but Google does publish content data where available.

You may request any feed from the Google Reader system using the following URL structure:

http://www.google.com/reader/atom/feed/ + [Feed URL]
Niall Kennedy's Weblog (RSS 2.0)
Niall's Flickr feed (Atom 0.3)
del.icio.us popular (RDF)
You may specify the total number of feed entries to retrieve using the n parameter. The default number of feed items returned is 20 (n=20).

Google strips off all the data it does not render in Reader. Stripped data includes namespaced data such as Apple iTunes podcast data and Yahoo! Media RSS, additional author data such as e-mail and home URL, and even copyright data.

Subscription list
/reader/atom/user/[user id]/pref/com.google/subscriptions

Google Reader's feed subscription list contains a user's current feed subscriptions as well as past deleted subscriptions. Each feed is contained in an entry complete with feed URL, published and updated dates, and user-specific tags, if present. Current subscriptions are categorized as a reading list state. You may request the full list of feeds by setting the complete to true.

Here is a copy of my Google Reader subscription list with my user ID zeroed out. I am not subscribed to my RSS feed (index.xml) and I have added tags to my Atom feed. Each listed feed contains an author element which appears to be empty regardless of declarations within the original feed. Perhaps Google plans to add some feed claiming services, but its own Google blog has no affiliated author information.

Reading list
/reader/atom/user[user id]/state/com.google/reading-list

My favorite feature of the Google Reader backend is direct access to a stream of unread entries across all subscribed feeds. Google will output the latest in a "river of news" style data view.

Here is a sample from my limited subscription set. You may specify the total number of entries you would like Google to return using the n parameter -- the default is 20 (n=20).

Read items only
http://www.google.com/reader/atom/user/[user ID]/state/com.google/read

You can retrieve a listing of read items from Google Reader. You might want to analyze the last 100 items a user has read to pull out trends or enable complete search and this function may therefore be useful. You may adjust the number of items retrieved using the n parameter -- the default is 20 (n=20).

Reading list by tag
/reader/atom/user/[user id]/label/[tag]

You may also view a list of recently published entries limited to feeds of a certain tag. If you have tagged multiple feeds as "marketing" you might want to request just the latest river of news for those marketing feeds. The returned feed contains both read and unread items. Read items are categorized as read (state/com.google/read) if you would like to hide them from view. The number of returned results may be adjusted using the n parameter.

Starred items only
/reader/atom/user[user id]/state/com.google/starred

Google Reader users can flag an item with a star. These flagged items are exposed as a list of entries with feed URL, tags, and published/updated times included. You may specify the total number of tagged entries to return using the n parameter -- the default value is 20 (n=20).

Google treats starred items as a special type of tag and the output therefore matches the tag reading list.

Add or delete subscriptions
/reader/api/0/edit-subscription

You may add any feed to your Google Reader list using the Google Reader API via a HTTP post.

/reader/api/0/edit-subscription -- base URL
ac=["subscribe" or "unsubscribe"] -- requested action
s=feed%2F[feed URL] -- your requested subscription
T=[special scramble] -- three pieces of information about the user to associate with the new subscription. Security unknown and therefore unpublished.
Add tags
/reader/api/0/edit-tag

You may also add tags to any feed or individual item via a HTTP post.

/reader/api/0/edit-tag -- base URL
s=feed%2F[feed URL] -- the feed URL you would like to tag
i=[item id] -- the item ID presented in the feed. Optional and used to tag individual items.
a=user%2F[user ID]%2Flabel%2F[tag] -- requested action. add a tag to the feed, item, or both.
a=user%2F[user ID]%2Fstate%2Fcom.google%2Fstarred -- flag or star a post.
T=[special scramble] -- three pieces of information about the user to associate with the new tag. Security unknown and therefore unpublished.
Conclusion
It is possible to build a your own feed reader on top of Google's data with targeted server calls. You can power an application both online and offline using Google as your backend and focus on building new experiences on top of the data. Advanced functionality is available with a numeric Google ID and some variable tweaks.

Google has built the first application on top of this data API, the Google Reader lens, and judging from their choice of URLs the lens may not be Google's last application built on this data set. I like the openness of the data calls and think the Google Reader APIs are simple enough to bootstrap a few new applications within Google or created by third-party developers.

Best Search Engine Community Blog : 2005 Search Blogs Awards

Although Threadwatch and Search Engine Roundtable were both nominated for different awards for covering search engine news and search related issues, I felt that giving them their own category would help to differentiate these blogs a bit from the normal search blog pack.

Both Threadwatch and Search Engine Roundtable are community oriented blogs, powered by multiple bloggers under with Aaron Wall sitting at the head of the table at Threadwatch and Barry Schwartz calling the shots at Roundtable. Google AdSenseTM solves this problem by automatically delivering text and image ads that are precisely targeted to your site and your site contentads so well-matched, in fact, that your readers will actually find them useful.
Access thousands of advertisers with minimal effort.
Signing up and maintaining relationships with advertisers is a full-time job. Luckily, Google AdSense does it for you. Our advertisers range from global brands to small local companies, in categories ranging from Education to Travel, Mortgages to Patio Furniture and just about everything in between. Best of all, once you get started, the AdSense program requires virtually no maintenance.
Rev up your sites revenue potential.
When you display Google ads on your website, youll be maximizing your revenue potential. Google places relevant CPC (cost-per-click) and CPM (cost per thousand impressions) ads into the same auction and lets them compete against one another. The auction takes place instantaneously and when its over AdSense will automatically display the text or image ad(s) that will generate the maximum revenue for a page and the maximum revenue for you

Official Google Blog: About the AOL announcement

Official Google Blog: About the AOL announcement

The recent announcement of the AOL partnership has been the source of a lot of rumors and misconceptions. We'd like to clear some of those up.

- Biased results? No way. Providing great search is the core of what we do. Business partnerships will never compromise the integrity or objectivity of our search results. If a partner's page ranks high, it's because they have a good answer to your search, not because of their business relationship with us.

- Indexing more of AOL's content. Our goal is to organize all of the world's information. When we say "all the world's information," this includes AOL's. We're going to work with the webmasters at AOL -- just as we work with webmasters all over the world -- to help them understand how the Google crawler works (with regard to robots.txt, how to use redirects, non-html content, etc.) so we don't inadvertently overlook their content.

- AOL will receive a credit towards advertising purchased through Google's ad program. You might wonder if this will affect the ad auction. It won't. We don't offer preferential treatment on advertising (in either the auction or the display) to any of our partners.

- We have a service called "onebox" for which we provide some additional links separate from ads (sponsored links) and search results. (Try searching on [new york transit strike] and look for the news section.) AOL and its products have always been a part of onebox, along with many other providers, and will continue to be.

- There will be no banner ads on the Google homepage or web search results pages. There will not be crazy, flashy, graphical doodads flying and popping up all over the Google site. Ever.

Our service and our business works because of you - our users. You're important to us and something that we think about all the time -- as we build new products, negotiate deals, and think about what our future holds.

We're looking forward to what AOL can help us do for you, and believe that our new agreement with them will only create a better experience for you in 2006 and beyond -- one where you can continue to trust that we're giving you a result because it's the best one we can possibly provide.
